He is the forth of six children . He developed interest in music in 1991 and so started writing lyrics at school parties.
Although Sound Sultan commenced his music career as a rapper, he later diversified into different music genres. He sings R&B, Afrobeat, Soul, and Fuji.
He believed that music artists should not be judged based on their music genre because the message of the song is the most important thing.
He worked with Wyclef Jean, 2face Idibia and Faze on Wyclef's welcome to Haiti Creole 101 album.
Wyclef and Sound sultan then collaborated on two other projects; King of my country in 2009 and People Bad in 2012.
He became a UN Ambassador for peace in 2012.
His death was announced in a statement on sunday morning, 11th June, 2021, by his family.
He died of Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma (AITL), which is a group of related malignancies (cancers).
His relative, Kayode Fasasi, said Sond Sultan passed on after a "hard fought battle" with the ailment.
He is survived by a wife, three children and his siblings.
His death has no doubt thrown the Nigerian music and entertainment into mourning. He was one of Nigeria's finest.
